Vintage Lamp Shade

Trying to keep up with my Pinterest projects ... there is never enough time!

I purchased this old lamp at a flea market in Carpentaria (my favorite beach city!).  We do a family camping trip every year and always make a trip to the local flea market.

The lamp came with no shade.  So my mom was tossing out this old one.

I found some cool fabric... of course I always get in a hurry to do something and this time I cut the fabric too small : (

So now I do what all crafty people do... I hide my mistake!

I took pins and pined the fabric to the shade then took a hot glue gun and glued the fabric in place. You need to try and pull it tight as you glue.

Next, I cut some strips of the fabric and stitched them to make them ruffle. I used one for the top and two for the bottom.
Then I got my glue gun again and started gluing again.

I finished the shade with some fabric roses and glued them on!

This shade reminded me of the shades my mom had on some of the lamps we had when were kids.  My husband even liked it!
Thanks for taking a look!

Vintage Suitcase Surprise

My friend Julie is very creative.  She teaches art and jewelry classes.  She is always packing up supplies and bringing it to the various places she teaches. For her Birthday I decorated an old suitcase for her to carry her supplies.

Of course as I always forget to do, I forgot to take the before picture... but it looked something like this...(found this one on Pinterest)

And yes it did freak me out a bit to paint over it .. it is vintage! But I think I made it really here is what I did..

I took the suitcase out side and spray painted it with a primer spray paint from Home Depot.  Once it dried, I painted it with an eggshell paint I got at Home Depot.  I used the small samples they can make the color you like for about $3.  I used a Tiffany Blue kind of color.. I can't remember the actual name but the Tiffany color was what I was going for.

Once it was dry...I used some Wallies wall paper flowers and Mod Podge to decorate the suitcase.

Made with love...

Here I made some Christmas Gift Tags for my families gifts. Using all leftover craft supplies.  Very fun and my grandson helped me!

Supplies I used were: felt, burlap, buttons, ribbon, rubber stamps, fabric scraps.  Theses can be made for any holiday or gift.  I will be making some Valentine's tags next.
